About Jessica Jamison

Hi, I’m Jess – a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and Certified Personal Trainer passionate about helping chronic dieters finally find peace with food and fitness. I empower women to build confidence, strength, and trust in themselves – inside and out.

The Journey of How I Got Here

My journey to this work is deeply personal. Growing up, I fell into the trap of diet culture and developed a complicated relationship with food and exercise. In high school, I remember being consumed by body image standards, striving to meet impossible goals, and letting food and fitness rule my life. By college, over-exercise and rigid dieting took a toll on both my physical and emotional health. It wasn’t until my own recovery journey that I discovered there was another way – one rooted in balance, self-compassion, and trust in my body.

This experience not only shaped who I am today but also sparked my passion for helping others break free from the cycle of disordered eating, body shame, and exercise as punishment. I knew I wanted to combine my passion for mental health and fitness to support women in reclaiming their lives from diet culture.

After earning my undergraduate degree in Psychology from UConn, I pursued my Master’s Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy. At the same time, I immersed myself in learning about strength training, eventually becoming a Certified Personal Trainer. Blending my background as a therapist with my knowledge of fitness has allowed me to offer a unique, holistic approach that addresses both mind and body.

What Makes My Work Unique

When you work with me, you’re getting more than a therapist or a trainer – you’re getting someone who has been there. I know how exhausting it is to live with constant food noise, the pressure to look a certain way, and the endless “rules” about how you should eat or exercise. I also understand how lonely and overwhelming it can feel to start untangling all of that.

What makes my approach unique is that I blend evidence-based therapy methods with compassionate coaching to guide you toward a weight-neutral, sustainable approach to food and fitness. I operate from a Health at Every Size (HAES) perspective, which means we focus on behaviors, not the scale. Together, we’ll work on building a life where food feels joyful and movement feels good – not like punishment.

I’ve also worked hard to create a safe, judgment-free space where everyBODY is welcome. Whether you’re struggling with disordered eating, body image concerns, or an all-or-nothing relationship with fitness, I’m here to help you find peace and build habits that align with your goals and values.

My Life Outside the Office

When I’m not helping clients break free from the chains of diet culture, you can find me embracing life with my family, usually chasing after my energetic kids or planning our next adventure. I’m also a devoted donut enthusiast – seriously, donuts are my love language. They’ve become a fun reminder that all foods truly can fit.

I’m a big believer in practicing what I preach, so you’ll often find me enjoying intuitive movement (sometimes that’s strength training, sometimes it’s a family walk) and savoring moments of rest. I know firsthand how important it is to step away from the hustle and honor your needs, whether that’s taking a nap, grabbing a coffee, or saying no to things that don’t serve you.

Life is messy, and balance can feel elusive, but I’m here to remind you: it’s possible to care for yourself with compassion and live in a way that feels good. Let’s make space for that together.
